About
Originally incorporated in January 2019 as the SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC), the company was established by the Government of Maldives to facilitate access to finance for MSMEs and startups. Following the Bank of Maldives acquiring a majority shareholding, the institution was officially rebranded as SME Digital Private Limited in November 2025. It operates under a financing business license from the Maldives Monetary Authority, offering Shariah-compliant digital financing products and business advisory support.
