MNDF Coast Guard

The MNDF Coast Guard was established as a separate wing of the defence forces on 1 January 1980 and is the country's armed maritime force, as the Maldives has no navy. It is responsible for maritime defence and security, including countering drug trafficking and piracy, and carries out search and rescue and humanitarian operations.
