The Old Friday Mosque was built between 1656 and 1658 during the reign of Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar I, with its minaret added in 1675. It is built of interlocking Porites coral blocks and features carved woodwork and lacquerwork. It was added to UNESCO's tentative World Heritage list in 2008 and remains an active mosque.
