Maldives Monetary Authority

The Maldives Monetary Authority was established on 1 July 1981 and was given full autonomy by a 2007 amendment to its Act. It issues currency, conducts monetary policy, and licenses and supervises banks, insurers and other financial institutions. It also advises the government on economic and financial matters.
