Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital was inaugurated on 15 April 1995, built with a gift from the Government of India. It is a state-owned multi-speciality hospital of about 300 beds offering tertiary and general care with an emergency department. It is part of the Male' City group of hospitals under the Ministry of Health.
