Housing Development Finance Corporation Plc (HDFC) was incorporated in 2004 by a Presidential Decree under the Companies Act as a dedicated housing finance institution. In 2008, it was restructured as a privatized entity with shareholdings held by the Government of Maldives alongside international partners including the Asian Development Bank, the International Finance Corporation, and HDFC Investments Ltd. HDFC provides both conventional home financing and Shari'ah-compliant Islamic housing finance products through its Islamic window, HDFC Amna.
